FinTrU Placement 2021/2022

    Do you have:

    A strong academic record?

Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills?

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office?

    Excellent attention to detail?

A passion for contributing to a vibrant workforce?

FinTrU is looking for a number of motivated, aspiring professionals who enjoy working in a dynamic environment with a diverse and inclusive culture.  FinTrU’s placement scheme is for students completing an industrial placement as part of their degree.

We don’t mind what degree you’re studying as long as you can demonstrate your passion for building a career within Financial Services.  You should have a strong academic record and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and team working skills.  You also need to be able to articulate why you would like to join the team at FinTrU!

    Why FinTrU

You will spend your year working alongside the world’s leading Investment Banks and gaining deeper insight into the world of Financial Services with one of Northern Ireland’s fastest growing FS companies.

You will experience the unique FinTrU culture first-hand and can get involved in coordinating and attending social and fundraising events throughout the year.  You will also have the chance to join one of our committees, which include Women in Finance, TrU Colours, and our BAME Committee.

You will finish your placement year with an industry recognised qualification; the Investment Operations Certification (IOC) Unit 1 which provides a basic introduction to the Financial Services industry with a focus on investments.

You will develop both personally and professionally throughout your placement year.  FinTrU has created a Placement Programme of Learning helping you to develop existing skills and knowledge but also to acquire new ones and be afforded the opportunity to translate this into practical application and experiences.

At the end of a successful year a graduate job offer will help you to fast track your career at FinTrU straight into the second year of our graduate programme.

Please note that all assessments are currently taking place virtually and you will not be asked to attend a face to face assessment or interview.

Benefits on offer:

  • Opportunity to re-join FinTrU in the second year of our graduate programme
  • Generous company pension scheme
  • Health cash plan
  • Life assurance
  • 23 days annual leave, plus ten bank holidays

About FinTrU

Founded in December 2013, FinTrU is a multi-award winning financial services company that provides high quality, cost-effective, near-shore resourcing solutions for Global Investment Banks.

FinTrU’s products are: Legal, Risk, Compliance, KYC, Operations, Consultancy and Technology. Its clients are all Tier 1 Investment Banks based in London, New York, Tokyo, Frankfurt and Paris. FinTrU currently employs over 600 staff across four offices in Belfast and Derry/Londonderry.

Whilst FinTrU is managed as a profit-driven organisation, Darragh McCarthy, Founder & CEO, also considers FinTrU as having a social purpose to create high-quality professional employment on the island of Ireland. Prior to FinTrU’s establishment, Darragh thoroughly researched various locations across Ireland to determine which location FinTrU should establish in.

The availability of a high number of talented graduates in the job market, coupled with support from Invest NI and cost-effectiveness of Northern Ireland made Belfast the obvious choice as a base for FinTrU. These factors have enabled FinTrU to offer a unique and highly competitive alternative to the more traditional off-shore outsourcing solutions often favoured by Investment Banks.
